Due to the rolling programme format you can join the Level 6 programme on selected dates during the course. The Induction day must be attended as it also includes registration, an assessment format and techniques workshop as well as receiving the home study materials for your first session.
| Learning format: |
The format of the learning requires self-study on a distance learning basis, supported by work-based assignments that should be submitted for each topic area. Reflective learning workshops are conducted to review learners study achievements, discussion of relevant issues and for tutors to provide additional subject input. Research: It is expected that learners will have regular access to the internet and trade press to investigate and research current trends and developments in the FM industry. Contact: It is expected that the learners keep in regular contact with the Tutor throughout the programme. All course work completed will prepare learners for the final summative work-based assessments. |

| Attendance / Venue: |
Open programme for L6 delegates. Minimum cohort size is 5 candidates. Programme consists of 4 days for Award; 9 days for Certicate and 20 days for Diploma. Self-study and homework is required for workshops and assessment preparation. Course duration from 4 to 24 months. |
| Award assessment: |
All attended study units as indicated on programme schedule chart are assessed. Course comprises the 1 Mandatory units (M), gaining 10 credits the minimum required for Award at Level 6. |
| Certificate assessment: |
All attended study units as indicated on programme schedule chart are assessed. Course comprises the 1 Mandatory units (M), gaining 10 credits and additional 3 optional assessable units (O) gain an additional 20 credits, resulting in 30 credits, the minimum required for Certificate at Level 6. |
| Diploma assessment: |
All attended study units as indicated on programme schedule chart are assessed. Course comprises the 4 Mandatory units (M), gaining 30 credits and additional 5 optional assessable units (O) gain an additional 30 credits, resulting in 60 credits, the minimum required for Diploma at Level 6. |
| Assessment method: |
Assessment is via a series of written assignments. Assessment papers for units are issued to learners at each reflective workshop. Assessment for each unit is carried out in a 30 to 45 day period following the issue of each paper, as agreed with each learner. |
| Learning hours: |
The BIFM suggest a minimum of 230 hours guided learning for the full Diploma. In addition, learners will need to allow time for research and preparation of assessments. If topics are completely new to a learner, then the study time will be significantly greater. Learners may need to allow for up to 9 hours per week. |
