Sample Level 3 assessment papers

Given below is an example assessment task for the Level 4 qualifications. The example is a task we have written in the style of the actual assessment.

It is likely that learners will have to undertake a small number of tasks (perhaps two or three) all of which cover the Unit learning outcomes and all of the assessment criteria. Learners have to satisfy all of the assessment criteria for all of the tasks as set.

Please bear in mind that the example assessmwent task has been written in the style of the Awarding Bodies' assessment papers and is not an actual assessment paper. However, it should give an indicaiton of the type of thing that will be expected of you for each of the learning levels.

Task Introduction

This assignment is about ensuring the space your business (or in another organisation with which you are familiar if you are unemployed) owns or occupies is utilised to its maximum potential and any changes in use or allocation are handled in a structured manner. Address the sections of the task presented in the grid below.

The suggested word count range for this assignment is between 700 and 1500 words.

The pass mark is 50% and you will have to achieve a minimum number of marks in each section of the assignment. This is indicated in italics at the bottom of each section.

Please use the headings shown below when writing up your Assignment.

Task, Part a. Space usage

Carry out a review of the way space is used in your organisation. In so doing provide four examples of the different uses given to the space available to the organisation.

Choosing three examples, explain why some space cannot be used for some functions.

In carrying out the review of how space is used in your organisation, make three suggestions of how it could be better utilised, indicating the current use of the space in question and indicating in what alternative way it could be used.

Task, Part b. Managing space

In managing the available space, consideration has to be given to the needs of the organisation. Determine three example needs and explain in what way these have affected the allocation, layout or use of space on a day to day operational basis.

Task, Part c. Change and project management

Investigate a project, in relation to acquiring, developing or a change in the use of space in your business that is either currently under way or one that has been completed in the past. Address the following points:

Outline the nature of the project and what it intended to achieve.
Identify three of the key stages that the project consisted of
Describe two tools or techniques that were used to help manage the project
Describe three activities that were undertaken in the process of, or shortly after, the completion of the project.
